The Ginger Pig, isn’t just fantastic Butcher’s, we produce, and sell our own range of traditional, hand-raised Pork Pies, Chutney's, Pickles and Condiments, all made by hand, and sold in the shops and in our online shop, across the UK.

We also produce a beautiful fresh, hot takeaway Lunch every day, made from the same first class, quality meat we sell to our customers, alongside a range of fresh Salads, and Ready to Go items, which customers can take home and heat.

We continue to develop and grow the range of products we make, so we are looking for two experienced Larder chefs, to support the production.

If you want a change in routine but continue to do what you love… produce amazing food, fresh from scratch every day, this could be just what you’re looking for!

  • Day shifts - Normally 7am-5.30pm
  • Predominately Monday to Friday, some weekends will be required
  • Hourly pay

We would like to speak to chefs with larder experience, who are used to preparing recipes from scratch, with fresh ingredients, who are confident in the kitchen, able to work under their own initiative.

  • Will have at least 4 years’ experience in a commercial kitchen
  • Must be confident preparing, large volumes of fresh produce, which is consistent and always to spec
  • Knowledge of making chutneys, sauces, and savoury jams
  • Strong knife skills
  • Happy to follow our traditional recipes
  • Level 2 food Hygiene would be useful


Because the production takes place in our shops, you will also be happy in a customer facing environment, like being in an open kitchen.

Butcher’s. A dying breed. It’s a highly skilled, traditional craft, honed after years of training, and dedication.

We are looking for Butchers with a real love of their craft, with solid experience, and an enthusiasm to serve our customers with knowledge and pride. 

You will need to have:

  • At least 5 years of Retail butchery, working for a reputable, traditional Butchers.
  • Experience of whole Carcass butchery, Pork, Beef, Lamb and Poultry
  • Be skilled in boning, rolling, trimming, and portioning to the customer’s requirements.
  • Happy to be customer facing, serving customers, in a warm and efficient manner.
  • Fluent English speaker.
  • Able to work full time, approximately 50 hours per week.
  • Flexible with the days you work - we are open 7 days a week.

We are looking for an experienced full time butcher to join our busy wholesale team.

• A minimum of at least 1 year's experience as a Wholesale Butcher
• Some retail butchery experience, would be useful
• Previous knowledge of working to customer specs
• Full carcass work
• Capable to work to deadlines,
• Able to produce high quality cuts, even with large volumes
• High volume cutting experience
• Order collation and fulfillment
• Food Safety Level 1 or preferred
• Fluent English speaker.
