Sadly, our amazing manager at The Ginger Pig Clapham, is returning to his homeland, which opens up a very rare opportunity for an experienced Butcher and Manager to join us and build on the loyal, local customer base we already have.

We have been incredibly lucky in that we have been able to continue to trade strongly all through lock-down, and this growth continues week on week, with Clapham currently our best performer of the 8 shops we have in London.

Our Managers have a passion for everything we do, and the way we do it. A Traditional, high quality Butchers, selling sustainably sourced, high welfare, rare breed meat. We work closely with our farmers, many of whom have been supplying meat to us for over a decade, to guarantee the best products, seasonality, and exclusivity.

As shop Manager you will be responsible for the overall running of the shop, and take control of different areas of the business including

  • Ensuring a consistent and well presented shop, staff and products
  • Maintaining stock levels of meat to cover all levels of trade by effective stock rotation, and ordering.
  • Working with the Deli staff to make the most of excess product by using for hot lunches and take away dishes.
  • Being a great people manager, by supporting the team, looking at their personal development, arranging training, and being available if they ever need to talk to you
  • Ensuring the shop is always adhering to all current Food hygiene regulations
  • Making sure in these difficult times that Staff and Customers abide by the Covid guidelines.
  • Managing all shop paperwork, including Temperature Record Keeping, H&S and Food Hygiene Records, Invoices and Delivery Notes.


You will come to us with a wealth of experience

  • Impeccable, warm customer service
  • Experienced whole carcass butcher, minimum of 5 + years, preferably in the UK
  • Hands on management experience of running a successful, independent, high quality Butchers
  • Effective staff management, looking after a team of at least 5 staff
  • Food hygiene level 2 certification, as a minimum
  • Able to work full time, a mix of weekdays and weekends, and bank holidays
  • Fluent in written and spoken English
  • Well presented
  • Numerate and used to looking at sales figures and labour budgets
  • Computer literate

This is a full time role, which can be offered on hourly rate or salary, paid weekly.

The shop is open 7 days a week, 9am-5pm Monday to Saturday, and 10am -3pm on Sunday, and our staff work around 50-60 hours per week.

We are looking for an experienced full time butcher to join our busy wholesale team.

• A minimum of at least 1 year's experience as a Wholesale Butcher
• Some retail butchery experience, would be useful
• Previous knowledge of working to customer specs
• Full carcass work
• Capable to work to deadlines,
• Able to produce high quality cuts, even with large volumes
• High volume cutting experience
• Order collation and fulfilment
• Food Safety Level 1 or preferred
• Fluent English speaker.
