Now that New Year diets have been put to bed, we’re delighted to unwrap our brand new Hackney deli! We’ve been busy remodelling our Lauriston Road shop to accommodate a shiny, new deli counter to bring even more meaty bounty to Victoria Park. In addition to the butchery counter and hot sausage rolls, the new deli is positively stuffed with our handmade pâtés and terrines, proper British cured meats, prepared dishes and some fantastic French charcuterie. Everything from scotch eggs and corned beef to gratin dauphinoise – we’ve got it covered whether you’re picnicking in the park, lazy-lunching with friends or hiding from the rain on the sofa.
All this lovely grub is made by a small team of chefs and bakers, split between our North Yorkshire HQ and London and using the same quality produce as you’ll find on our butcher’s block. We’ll be changing a little with the seasons, but a few firm staff favourites are the rabbit and pork belly terrine, smoked pigs’ cheek pâté, melanzane parmigiana and Gemma’s Oriental pork puffs (move over, sausage rolls!). We’re also proud to stock a small range of saucisson and cured meats from Mont Charvin in the Haute-Savoie, who wouldn’t sell us even a single sausage until we went to see how it’s done. In other words, they’re pretty special.
Finally, like ham without eggs, no deli would be complete without some top drawer pickles and preserves – and we think we’ve got some of the best, made up in North Yorkshire by mother and daughter team, Julie and Rachel.
We’re now open and ready to rumble, so you could even pop in for an afternoon snack.
